Bhusal is the standing committee member and the deputy general secretary of the Maoist Centre. She was a member of the first Constituent Assembly in 2064BS. Likewise, Bhusal was elected House of Representative member from Lalitpur-3 in the 2017 general elections. During her first tenure in 2064BS, Bhusal was appointed Minister for Women, Children and Social Welfare. The following year she became the Minister for General Administration and in the year 2068BS she served as the Minister for Peace and Reconstruction. In 2078, Bhusal was appointed the Minister for Energy and Irrigation.
