Pandit joined politics in 2039 BS after being involved in a labour organisation. He joined mainstream politics after joining CPN-ML. Pandit became a central committee member of the then Nepal Communist Party in 2075 BS and is currently associated with CPN-UML.
Pandit was elected in the House of Representatives elections in 2048 BS and 2056 BS from Morang. He became Constituent Assembly member in 2064 BS through a proportional representational system. Pandit was directly elected from Morang-6 in the 2074 BS polls. He worked twice as Minister for General Administration in 2070 BS and 2074 BS.
