Gurung is incumbent member of the Gandaki Provincial Assembly from Tanahun 2(B). A member of the standing committee and department of federal affairs and general administration of CPN (UML), he was finance minister in provincial cabinet. He had served as Minister for Forest and Soil Conservation in 2008.
