Khatiwada, the leader of the CPN (Unified Socialist), has been the Minister for Health and Population since 2078BS. Prior to his election to the House of Representatives from Makwanpur-2 in the 2017 general elections, Khatiwada represented the district in the parliament in 2048BS, 2051BS and 2056BS.
