KC is the central committee member of the Nepali Congress. He was elected a Constituent Assembly member from Kathmandu-10 in 2070BS. In the 2017 general elections, Shrestha secured a seat from the constituency to become a House of Representatives member. He served as Minister for Youth and Sports in 2075BS.
